Dr Tanya Harrington Chief Regulatory OfficerAn Post Ireland

Dr Tanya Harrington is Chief Regulatory Officer at An Post. In this role, she leads the development and implementation of the company's comprehensive and integrated public policy and regulatory strategy. She also heads engagement with the government, regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders at international, EU and domestic levels.

Previously, Dr Harrington spent six years in consultancy, advising a range of companies on matters of public policy, government affairs and economic regulation across a range of economically regulated sectors, including energy, climate action, transport, communications, broadcasting and the postal sector. Prior to her consulting work, she served as Director of the NTR Foundation, the corporate foundation of NTR plc – a leading investor and asset manager of renewable energy projects. These positions built on her experience in public policy formation, developed through her work as Ministerial Advisor at the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources and the Department of Transport.

In her early career, Dr Harrington also served as Head of Energy Policy at business representative group Ibec, as well as working as a policy analyst at the Institute of International and European Affairs and a researcher at the European Commission's Directorate General for Trade in Brussels.

Outside of her role with An Post, Dr Harrington is Chairperson of Renewable Energy Ireland, an open partnership of sustainable energy associations working collectively to support energy transition in Ireland. Moreover, she is a Member of Chapter Zero Ireland, the Irish Chapter of the Climate Governance Initiative, developed in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. Dr Harrington holds a doctorate in governance, focused on accountability and institutional design for cross-jurisdictional regulatory governance, awarded by the School of Law at Queen's University Belfast.
